Introducing Typenuts

A few weeks back I had the chance to page gently through an old German Lutheran bible from the mid 18th century. I used the oppor­tu­nity, quickly filling my camera’s SD card with photos of the bible and other things from my friend’s col­lec­tion.

I noted I was think­ing of start­ing a pho­to­blog for many of these images to live and with an iPhoto typog­ra­phy col­lec­tion getting larger and larger I figured I’d share the cream of the lot on a sep­a­rate site.

With that, I’d like to intro­duce Type­nuts, a small typography-​related photo image blog (non-​photographic images might make their way onto the site too). I’m plan­ning to update it on a weekly basis, prob­a­bly on the weekend. Logo is pending too—I’m think­ing a squir­rel with an acorn com­posed of the letters “typenuts” in small cap­i­tals or some­thing similar….

Right now though Type­nuts has it’s own yummy RSS feed and comes in two themes—a light and a dark theme allow­ing you to switch between them on the fly to best suit the image at hand. I am torn over which theme to set as the default—light or dark—what do you think?

    I would say black on white as default, entirely because it’s in my opinion more read­able. That said, I like the con­trast in the sample image you’ve shown above so there­fore you should totally have a bar in the oppo­site colour in both the stylesheets to tie them together.

    Looking good though. :-)

    @Piotr: Boy, I’m not sure. I think it could tech­ni­cally be done, and prob­a­bly shouldn’t be that dif­fi­cult. I’ll have to ask around. Thank you for raising this.

    Done. Feed is listed in the sidebar and oth­er­wise avail­able on feed­jum­bler.

    I’ve got to say that I prefer the black text on a white back­ground for the first article, it is clearer for me. That said I’m glad there’s a choice too!
