A few weeks back I had the chance to page gently through an old German Lutheran bible from the mid 18th century. I used the opportunity, quickly filling my camera’s SD card with photos of the bible and other things from my friend’s collection.
I noted I was thinking of starting a photoblog for many of these images to live and with an iPhoto typography collection getting larger and larger I figured I’d share the cream of the lot on a separate site.
With that, I’d like to introduce Typenuts, a small typography-related photo image blog (non-photographic images might make their way onto the site too). I’m planning to update it on a weekly basis, probably on the weekend. Logo is pending too—I’m thinking a squirrel with an acorn composed of the letters “typenuts” in small capitals or something similar….

Right now though Typenuts has it’s own yummy RSS feed and comes in two themes—a light and a dark theme allowing you to switch between them on the fly to best suit the image at hand. I am torn over which theme to set as the default—light or dark—what do you think?
Type on Typenuts is set in Minion, as designed by Robert Slimbach, 1990.

I would say black on white as default, entirely because it’s in my opinion more readable. That said, I like the contrast in the sample image you’ve shown above so therefore you should totally have a bar in the opposite colour in both the stylesheets to tie them together.
Looking good though. :-)
Congrats on the launch of Typenuts. Brilliant idea!
Btw: is there any way to have both—your blog articles and Typenut’s new entries delivered in one RSS feed?
Kind regards
Well done Klenub. That looks fantastic.
@Piotr:
Boy, I’m not sure. I think it could technically be done, and probably shouldn’t be that difficult. I’ll have to ask around. Thank you for raising this.Done. Feed is listed in the sidebar and otherwise available on feedjumbler.
Great, thanks!
I’ve got to say that I prefer the black text on a white background for the first article, it is clearer for me. That said I’m glad there’s a choice too!
Congrats on Typenuts, feed added to Akregator. :-)
