Fun in productivity land

Just seen some interesting new developments in the land of productivity, especially in regard to word processing. Koffice has just announced it’s results of their GUI and Functionality Design competition. I downloaded some of the entries and will hopefully peruse them sometime tomorrow.

Also, the Marc Maurer has recently blogged about Abiword 2.6. He’s shown off the kick ass collaboration features in 2.6 in a screencast.

This collaboration feature is just so damn cool. I’ve heard of a similar feature in Inkscape. This sort of stuff ought to be eventually available in almost every productivity app, and thus I could definitely see this feature applied in the area of mind mapping also. I hope to get in contact with as many people working on this mind mapping stuff sometime, latest over the next holidays. Right now I’m bogged down by college so it will have to wait.

As for artwork, I still haven’t found the time to add the new stuff to the ‘work’ pages, nor talk about what actually happened on the weekend. Tomorrow, or rather today as I write this, is moderation day across the whole of ACT. This is when the teachers of all colleges meet up and discuss balanced and fair marking/grading, so that the English course students, for example are marked fairly in respect to the same course and different teachers in another college. In turn meaning a day off school, so I hope to catch up on a few things.

More later.
